Matt Shapiro
Director of Spiritual Counseling
Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Matt holds a master’s degree in rabbinic studies from the American Jewish University and has served as a spiritual counselor at Beit T’shuvah since 2012. With his experience working in a number of formal and informal Jewish educational settings, Matt has a passion for the wisdom of the Jewish tradition and its insights into how we can best live our lives.

In addition to coordinating and leading many elements of the spiritual program on-site and serving as a spiritual counselor himself, Matt’s primary professional role at Beit T’Shuvah is supervising the spiritual counseling that takes place as an integral part of treatment. A major focus of this supervision includes developing trainings and resources to support the spiritual counselors, both in their professional roles and their personal spiritual work. Matt believes deeply in the growth and wisdom that emerges through spiritual connection, learning, and openness.

Most importantly, Matt is grateful for his fantastic wife, Sarah, and their two wonderful sons.
