Rabbi Paul Steinberg
Beit T'Shuvah Educator & Spiritual Advisor
Paul Steinberg is a rabbi and nationally recognized transformative educator. Rabbi Steinberg began his career as the Director of Jewish Studies and Hebrew at Levine Academy: A Solomon Schechter School in Dallas, Texas. He then went on to become the Senior Educator at Valley Beth Shalom in Encino, California, where he served as both a pulpit rabbi and heads of the various schools and educational programs.

In addition to his work at Valley Beth Shalom, Rabbi Steinberg simultaneously pursued his doctorate in education, taught Jewish philosophy in the Graduate School of Education at American Jewish University, and served on local and national boards.

He also has published several articles on Jewish thought and education, as well as several books including, Study Guide to Jewish Ethics (JPS, 2003) and the three-volume series Celebrating the Jewish Year (JPS, 2009) which earned the National Jewish Book Award.

Today, after getting treatment for his own alcoholism, workaholism, and depression, Rabbi Steinberg works as an educator and spiritual counselor at Beit T'Shuvah, an addiction treatment center and synagogue community. Since arriving at Beit T'Shuvah, he published his book Recovery, the 12 Steps, and Jewish Spirituality: Reclaiming Hope, Courage and Wholeness (Jewish Lights, 2014), which tells his personal struggles with addiction, as well as provides the first comprehensive approach to integrating Jewish spirituality with the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous.
